SAN JOSE, Costa Rica-Actions speak louder than words, and never has it been truer than it is at Cayuga Sustainability Hospitality.
Based in San Jose, Costa Rica, Cayuga is devoted to the management and development of hotels, lodges and other tourism related projects in Latin America and the Caribbean that strive for ecological, conservationist or sustainable success.
Employees of Cayuga have gone above and beyond their 9-to-5 duties, however, with a recent internal contest that judged sustainable efforts taking place at home. Implemented by Millay Kogan, sustainability coordinator, Cayuga, the recent contest strove to promote "green" strategies within households, motivating employees to further enhance efforts at work and within Cayuga's current hotels and hotel staff programs.
Ratings were given based on several factors, including: the use of sustainable energy through solar panels, carbon offsetting, use of organic materials and educational efforts both personally and within families.
The winner of the contest, Hans Pfister, president, Cayuga, portrays his passion for sustainability in many ways, including all of those listed above-offering a convincing story of personal gain and growth to potential and current hospitality clients.
The same idea is woven throughout all of Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality Costa Rica properties, including the newly opened Arenas del Mar Beach & Nature Resort, The Harmony Hotel, and Lapa Rios Ecolodge.
All four of these eco-friendly properties operate under a similar mission: To provide the ultimate escape for travelers seeking true sustainability, an authentic experience and high levels of service. It is through these principles of excellence that these properties continue to prosper, earning deserved recognition from both the tourism industry and satisfied travelers.
