We received this e-mail from a guest that had stayed at Jicaro Island Ecolodge in Nicaragua for his honeymoon last year. We know that many guests that stay with us at our Cayuga Collection Hotels and Lodges come back inspired and charged with energy and new ideas. But this e-mail especially caught our attention as it really flattered us and made us proud of the impact we are creating with our guests. Here is the e-mail that we received:
” Dear Hans,
I have been thinking a lot about the Jicaro experience that we had, about Cayuga, and about my own career, which was rooted in hospitality and has taken a detour through retail, perhaps a little away from my true heart and its calling. I am completely inspired by the hospitality experience Cayuga is delivering – there is so much heart and social spirit inside of the business model – its very rare to come across premium brands and experiences that both deliver on the front of house promise while clearly working hard behind the scenes to be a company that contributes positively to the world around it.
And the hospitality experience we’ve had with Cayuga so far has just been so good – from the coffee plantation tour at Finca Rosa Blanca and its whimsical rooms to the Jicaro experience. It makes me want to understand more about the behind the scenes recipe, and inspires me to think about how to navigate my career back into hospitality. So, I have a crazy proposition for you, with truly no pressure to say yes – I will not be offended if you decline. Would you consider the possibility of me coming down for a week or two at some point this year and shadowing you.
My career goal would be to run an operations company like yours or to be GM of a hotel at some point. So my goal from the week would be as simple as to better understand the business model and maybe take you out to dinner for some career advice! I’m attaching my resume to this email so you can get a better sense of my background – lots of loyalty, digital marketing and e-commerce sales experience, and for two companies with amazing social impact (MAC AIDS fund, Virgin Unite), but I am very light on core business development and operations. What do you think? ”
We are currently trying to set up an internship to see if we can help this former Cayuga guest in his intended career change. Stay tuned…. If you are interest in helping us here at Cayuga, take a look a this great opportunity for our quest for the perfect sustainable luxury honeymoon.
