The importance that a solid Wi-Fi connection has for our guests at the Cayuga Collection Hotels and Lodges is becoming very time more evident. Even to the point that a guest recently told us that it was much more important to him to have the Wi-Fi working reliably than to have breakfast served. Well, probably not everybody will agree with this statement, but we might have added a solid Wi-Fi addiction to our long time caffeine addiction in the past years.
As a result of this, we are investing in more solid Wi-Fi at the Harmony Hotel in Nosara, the Hotel Grano de Oro in San Jose and Arenas del Mar Beachfront and Rainforest Resort in Manuel Antonio. The other smaller lodges such as Jicaro Island Ecolodge in Lake Nicaragua and Latitude 10 Resort in Santa Teresa will follow. Due to their remote locations and need for internet by satellite, the upgrades are more challenging as we cannot rely on telephone cables.
And then, there is the exception to the rule: Lapa Rios Eco Lodge on the Osa Peninsula. A very important part of the lodge”™s concept is that we purposely ” disconnect” our guests from the outside world as much as possible and emerge them into the world of the Osa Peninsula and the magic of the tropical rain forest. This allows for true decompression and for an unparalleled vacation experience. Remember how it felt before you had to be available and online 24/7/365? Not for everybody, but the ones that take the plunge (even Wi-Fi addicts) comment on Tripadvisor on how much they enjoyed to reconnect the their family, partner or themselves.
So we are not planning any upgrades to Wi-Fi at Lapa Rios (yet). Guests that cannot overcome their addiction to their devices can purchase local phone card and use the telephone signal in certain parts of the lodge. But we strongly recommend not to fall for the temptation and go for a hike in the rain forest, look for Jaguar treks, bathe in a wild waterfall and watch the spider monkeys play in the trees above you.
And breakfast. VERY important to us at the Cayuga Hotels and Lodges, you can always count on fresh seasonal tropical fruit and hearty local dishes served with organic shade grown coffee. We won”™t make any compromises here.
