Understanding Global Warming while watching a Glacier in the French Alps

This summer, I spent some time in Europe with my family.   We visited the ” Mer de Glace” glacier near Mont Blanc and Chamonix.     I had been there the last time in 1990 with friends while still living in Germany.   It was a big shock to see how much the Glacier had receded in the past 20 years.   Global warming is a hard concept to grasp since it is not clearly visible and tangible.   But seeing how the ice has melted here at a very accelerated rate in the past years is impressive and easy to understand for everybody.   So the next time that somebody argues Global Warming, take them up on the train to the Mont Blanc glacier.
