Strategic AlliancesCayuga Sustainable Hospitality has formed a variety of strategic alliances over the years to make sure that it continues to remain on the cutting edge of hospitality, business and sustainable tourism trends. Below you will find links and references to our valued partners. The Hotel School at Cornell University Since both founders and owners of Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality are graduates of the Hotel School at Cornell University, a very strong bond between Cayuga and the Hotel School has formed over the years. In fact, members of Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality currently serve as officers in the Cornell Hotel Society, one of the most active alumni networks in the world. President Hans Pfister has been invited to serve as guest speaker at Cornell University to share his unique experiences in incorporating sustainability into his business model. Additionally, a number of case studies, as well an initiative to create an Executive Education program focused on sustainable tourism initiatives, are currently in the development stages. Cayuga regularly recruits interns and graduates from the Hotel School. INCAE Business School INCAE Business School, located just outside San Jose, Costa Rica, is considered to be Latin America’s premier business schools. In an effort to create a strong strategic alliance between Cayuga and INCAE, members of Cayuga have served as guest speakers for MBA classes and forums, while INCAE students have conducted research (including a study that investigated financial leakage and drop to the local communities in which Cayuga operates) and held internship opportunities with Cayuga. Other Partners in Education: INBio Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad According to its website, The National Biodiversity Institute (INBio) of Costa Rica “is a private research and biodiversity management center, established in 1989 to support efforts to gather knowledge on the country’s biological diversity and promote its sustainable use. The institute works under the premise that the best way to conserve biodiversity is to study it, value it, and utilize the opportunities it offers to improve the quality of life of human beings.” Cayuga has worked with INBio on a number of projects, specifically those related to scientific research and development in and around our properties. EARTH University The EARTH University in Guacimo, Costa Rica a private, international, non-profit university dedicated to education in the agricultural sciences and natural resources in order to contribute to sustainable development of the tropics by seeking a balance between agricultural production and environmental preservation. Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality has organized educational retreats with its corporate members and has hired a number of EARTH University graduates to work in and around its properties. University of Costa Rica, Business School Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality has formed a strong strategic alliance with one of Costa Rica’s top universities: The University of Costa Rica Business School. Members of Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality have served as guest speakers for a number of business classes and forums, and students at the University of Costa Rica have conducted research and held internship opportunities with Cayuga as well.
